Home battery storage, with or without solar

A battery on its own can fill up on a cheap overnight rate and run the house through the expensive evening. Add panels now, later, or never. We fit Sigenergy, Tesla and SolarEdge batteries across Leicestershire.

Why people get a battery without solar

1

Cheap power, stored for later

Charge on an off-peak rate overnight, then run the house on it when electricity costs the most.

2

No roof needed

Shaded roof, flat roof, listed building, or a roof that just isn't yours to put panels on? A battery sits in the garage or utility and doesn't care.

3

The EV tariff, for the whole house

An electric car tariff gives you a cheap window overnight. A battery lets the rest of the house use it too.

4

Solar later, if you like

We fit a battery that panels can be added to later, so you don't pay for the same kit twice.

5

Backup when the grid drops

Add a backup gateway and the house keeps running in a power cut.

6

Sized to your evenings

We look at your bills and size the battery to what the house actually uses after dark, not the biggest one in the van.

Room to growModular batteries, like the Sigenergy ones we often fit, stack, so you can add capacity later if you get an EV or heat pump.

the honest bit

Does a battery pay without solar?

It can, but only on the right tariff. The sums work when there's a big gap between your cheap overnight rate and the daytime rate, and when the house uses a fair amount of power in the evenings. On a flat tariff a battery alone doesn't do much.

We'll look at a year of bills and tell you straight whether it stacks up, and whether panels, a tariff change or both would do more for you. We don't fit batteries that won't earn their keep.

What happens, start to finish

1

Free survey

Send us a year of bills, or we'll come and look. We check your supply, where the battery could go and which tariff you're on.

2

Your proposal

A battery sized to your evening use, with honest figures and a fixed price. If it doesn't stack up, we'll tell you that instead.

3

Installation

Usually a day. The battery goes in the garage or utility room on its own board, and we tell the local electricity network operator (the DNO) for you.

4

Handover

The app on your phone, the schedule set so it charges when power is cheap, and a proper walk-through.

Nice things people have said

“Excellent work from Matt, he explained what needed to be done to fit an extra solar battery and all the work was carried out with a minimum of disruption. The system works brilliantly.”

Questions people ask us

Do I need solar panels to have a battery?

No. A battery on its own charges from the grid on a cheap overnight rate and runs the house on it later. Panels can be added at any point.

Which tariff do I need?

One with a cheap overnight window. Most of the big suppliers offer one, especially if you have an electric car. We'll check what you're on and tell you if a switch would make the battery work harder.

How big a battery do I need?

It depends on what the house uses between late afternoon and bedtime. We look at your bills and size it to that, with room to add more later if you want to.

Can I add more batteries later?

Yes. With a modular battery, capacity can be added in steps, and panels can go on the roof later without replacing anything.

No panels? No problem.

Send us a year of bills and we'll tell you honestly whether a battery on its own makes sense for your house.
