Solar panels on a Victorian home in Leicestershire

What goes on your roof (and in your garage, or outside)

We fit Sigenergy, Tesla and SolarEdge systems with premium all-black panels, and we'll recommend the combination that suits your home.

1

Premium all-black panels

Black cells, black frame and black backing, so the array looks like one neat block instead of a grid of silver lines. They’re high-efficiency panels too, which means more power from the same bit of roof.

2

Fixed properly, and bird-proofed

The array sits on Renusol rails, with SolaSkirt bird protection round the edge so pigeons can’t move in underneath. On a new roof or a re-roof we can fit GSE in-roof trays, so the panels sit flush with the tiles.

3

Shade? Sorted.

Awkward chimney or a tree next door? Where shade needs it, we fit panel-level optimisers so one shaded panel doesn’t drag the rest down.

4

A battery to match

Sigenergy, Tesla Powerwall or SolarEdge. Store the day’s sun for the evening, or charge on a cheap overnight tariff in winter. It can live in the garage, a utility room or outside, wherever it meets the battery fire-safety standard, which we check at survey.

5

Whole-home backup

Add a backup gateway and the whole house keeps running in a power cut. Not just a few chosen sockets: every circuit stays live, within the inverter’s power rating and the battery’s charge.

6

Paid for the spare

Anything you don’t use goes out to the grid. Once you have a smart meter and sign up, a Smart Export Guarantee tariff pays you for it.

how we design it

Designed around your whole year

Any system looks great in July. We look at your real usage, your roof, your tariff and your plans (an EV, a heat pump, kids growing up) and design for the whole year, winter included, with headroom to grow.

Every roof is modelled in 3D with its real shading before we quote, so the numbers in your proposal are ones we'd stand behind. We keep them conservative on purpose.

What happens, start to finish

1

Free survey

We look at your roof, fuse board and bills, and fly the drone if it helps. No sales pitch.

2

Your proposal

A clear design, honest figures and a fixed price. Your deposit is protected by IWA.

3

Installation

Insured scaffolders go up, then we fit everything ourselves. Most homes take two to three days.

4

Handover

Your MCS certificate, the DNO paperwork completed (larger systems are approved before we start), the monitoring app on your phone and a proper walk-through.

the bonus bit

Get paid for what you don't use, and pay less for what you do

Your MCS certificate lets you sign up to a Smart Export Guarantee tariff, so any spare power you send to the grid earns you money.

A battery also opens up cheaper ways to buy power. On an off-peak tariff it can fill up overnight at a low rate, then run the house through the expensive hours. On a dynamic tariff, where the price changes through the day, it can charge when power is cheap and export when it's worth more.

We'll talk you through the tariffs that suit your system and how you use power.

What was there

A home in Charnwood where the panels went on the ground instead of the roof.

What we did

In December 2025 we fitted 12.8 kWp of panels on ground frames, with an 18 kWh Sigenergy battery at the house.

How it's doing

It makes far more than the house uses, so most of it is sold to the grid. The numbers below come straight from the system's own app.

case study: two homes in Barrow upon Soar →see more of our work →
10.2 MWh
generated in its first ten months
77%
of that sold to the grid
12.8 kWp
of ground-mounted panels
18 kWh
of battery storage

Figures from the system's own app, 8 December 2025 to 2 October 2026.

Questions people ask us

Do I need planning permission for solar panels?

Usually not. Most roof systems fall under permitted development. Listed buildings, some conservation areas and ground-mounted arrays over 9 square metres are different, and we'll check yours at the survey.

Will it work in winter?

Yes, just less of it. That's why we plan for winter too, and pair panels with a battery that can also charge on cheap overnight rates when the sun is low.

What happens in a power cut?

A standard system switches off for safety. With a backup gateway fitted, your whole house carries on running from the battery and panels, for as long as the battery has charge.

How long does the install take?

A standard home takes two to three days. Commercial jobs can run to a few weeks, and we'll agree a proper programme with you so the business keeps running.

What warranties do I get?

A 6-year workmanship warranty from us, plus the manufacturers' product warranties on panels, batteries and inverter, which we list in your proposal.

Is my deposit safe?

Yes. When you pay a deposit you get an IWA Deposit Protection certificate, which covers a deposit of up to 25% of the contract value until the work starts. We're also TrustMark registered and MCS certified.

Want to know what your roof could do?

We'll come and look, model it properly and give you honest numbers. Free, and no pressure.
