one building, two homes

Two homes in Barrow upon Soar

Homes · 4.9 kWp and 8.46 kWp, each with a battery · January 2025

What was there

A pair of period semi-detached homes in Barrow upon Soar: one building, two households, and a roof full of gables and chimneys.

What we did

We modelled the whole roof in 3D first, so we could see where the chimneys and gables cast shade before a single panel went up. One home has 11 premium all-black panels (4.9 kWp) and the other has 19 (8.46 kWp). Each has its own SolarEdge inverter, an optimiser on every panel and a 9.7 kWh SolarEdge battery. Both were switched on in January 2025.

How it's doing

In the 12 months to the end of September 2026, the smaller system generated 4,789 kWh and the larger one 8,526 kWh. That's roughly 1,000 kWh for every kWp of panels on both roofs.
