Boyes Design, Nottingham

Joinery workshop · 17.5 kWp in-roof + battery · September 2026

What was there

An old red-brick works in Netherfield, now the studio and workshop where Boyes Design make bespoke kitchens and joinery. The roof was being stripped and re-laid.

What we did

With the roof off, we built the panels into it. 17.5 kWp of all-black panels sit in GSE in-roof trays, flush with the new slates, so they read as part of the roof and not something bolted on top. Inside, a Sigenergy inverter and 9 kWh battery. The workshop kept making throughout.

How it's doing

Switched on in September 2026. A workshop full of machinery uses power when the sun is up, so most of what the roof makes is used on the spot.

17.5 kWp
of all-black panels built into the roof
77%
of the solar used on site
48%
of the workshop's power came from its own roof in its first 17 days
9 kWh
Sigenergy battery

Figures from the system's own app, 16 September to 2 October 2026: 884 kWh generated. We'll update these as the system gets a full year behind it.
