two roofs

Fosse Bearings, Thurmaston

Industrial · 14.7 kWp + battery · May 2024

What was there

A working industrial unit with two very different roofs, one pitched and one flat, and a business that couldn't stop for us.

What we did

30 panels in all. Twenty on the pitched roof with bird-proofing, and ten on the flat roof on a weighted frame, so nothing is fixed through the roof covering. We surveyed by drone and had the flat roof's structure checked first. A SolarEdge battery and backup unit went in alongside. We planned the work from the front of the building, so the business kept working.

How it's doing

Switched on in May 2024. The battery and backup unit keep the important circuits running in a power cut. In the 12 months to 30 September 2026 the panels made 12.6 MWh and covered 37% of the electricity the unit used, by the system's own monitoring.
