charging the chargers

Kia, Loughborough

Car showroom · 65.5 kWp · 12 days

What was there

A car showroom that had just put in new EV chargers, and was watching its electricity use climb because of them.

What we did

154 panels across the showroom roof, 65.5 kWp in all, on a SolarEdge system with optimisers. We checked the roof could take the load and got network (G99) approval first. The showroom stayed open for the whole job.

How it's doing

Switched on at the end of October 2023. In the 12 months to 30 September 2026 it made 58.6 MWh, and half of all the electricity the showroom used came from its own roof.

Figures from the system's own monitoring. The 12 months are 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026. The CO₂ figure was read on 2 October 2026.
